A rare and wonderful thing, this is an 18th century blacksmith made  fat/betty lamp holder with worught iron hangers on either end. Highly stylized and beautiful, it was made to add a bit of whimsey to a utilitarian lamp holder. It may have been made by a loving husband for his wife or as a one of a kind 'special' lighting fixture. Shown hanging from a wrought iron wall pick in my home, it is beautiful.
