18th Century Small Priming Horn with the Initials 'SS'
An 18th century powder horn that was found in Pennsylvania, it was part of a 40+ year collection that was sold through an estate sale. It is a great bi-color but has some issues at the top of the horn around the nails. It has a wonderful design around the pour hole that is incorporated where the owner started scraping down the hornand has the owner's initials ("SS") carved into the top of the horn. Priming horns were used to fill flash pan on flintlock muskets.
It is 4" long.
