19th Century Blue/Gray Pantry Box with Early Sewn Repair

An early blue painted pantry box that is softly aging into a blue/gray color. It has a sewn lap on the bottom part of the box and a wonderful single lap on the top of the box that has been expertly repaired at an early time in its life. It was probably repaired by a traveling peddler who would come to homesteads, farms, and towns to repair your household items. The repair is tight and secure with a probable beeswax coating to keep the thread stiff and less likely to fray.  There is also an area on the bottom of the pantry box that is missing some wood but as you can see, it has not gone completely through the bottom of the box. It has a 10.5" top diameter and stands 4" tall.
