Antique Baskets Native American in Excellent Condition
This is a set of two nesting ash splint baskets with red, green, and blue dyed splints running throughout both baskets. They are from the Penobscot or Wabanaki tribes and mostly probably from Maine. There are remnants of the newspaper lining on the top of the large basket. The newspaper was to line the baskets to protect the splints from the items that were stored in the baskets. These are probably sewing baskets. They are both in excellent condition with the large basket standing 8" tall with a 9.5" top diameter and the small basket standing 5" tall with a 6" top diameter.
