Antique Cheesebox in Its Natural Old Patina
A late Victorian era cheesebox with those wonderful wrapped bands and nice dark patina. Around the bottom of the box you can see some discoloration from the cheese that was once stored in it. This type of large 'round' of cheese would have been sold to general stores and would have then been sold to customers. I can see it sitting on the counter of that general store - or even a butcher's shop - with customers asking for a small wedge for their family dinner that night.
It has a great primitive look with those great wrapped bands and old worn nails, and would definitely make a statement in your butt'ry or sitting in a cupboard.
it has a 12.5" top diameter and stands 6.5" tall.
