A gorgeous 18th century tin barn lantern with its bottom candle clips intact that has a squatty look to it. There is the addition of a small amount of wire at the area where the top ring is attached to the body of the lantern. It seems to be there to be there to strengthen the attachment. The design is large and circular which probably gave off more light than normal. 
These early barn lanterns are becoming very, very difficult to find in good shape and this one is a definite keeper! It is 15.5" tall to the top of the ring, 12" tall to the top of the lantern and has a 5.5" bottom diameter.
