Antique William Hare Crock - Wilmington, Delaware Potter
This is a rare and wonderful mid 19th century William Hare crock that is in excellent condition with no cracks or chips on it. William Hare is the only known Delaware potter to mark his wares and this one is very clearly marked with his name and place of business. William Hare came to Wilmington in 1837. He purchased an existing pottery shop on French Street and remained there through 1885. His life and pottery are currently being studied by the Delaware State Museum.
