This is a circa 1840 pewter camphene lamp with two burners and at least 50% of its original gold painted surface intact. I have only seen one other pewter lamp in original color but it was not a camphene lamp. It must have very beautiful when lit as the entire lamp must have looked like it was made of shiny gold. THis would have had a home in an upper middle class or wealthy household and would have had a place of honor in the parlor. The gold paint is not as bright as in the pictures but placed with other lamps, it will certainly be a standout of your collection.
