Early 19th Century Out of Round Footed Bowl with Burnt Surface
A small serving bowl that is very out of round and has a wonderful foot on the bottom of the bowl. It was well-used and was burnt by the hearth fire at sometime in its past. The charred surface is dry and doesn't smell of smoke unless you scrape the surface so it was burnt a long time ago. Thick-walled with lots of knife marks, this may have been a warming bowl that was pushed too far into the ashes.
It has an 8" x 9" out of round diameter (1" out of round!).
