Hollow Cut Silhouette of a Young Man - Circa 1820

Hollow Cut Silhouette of a Young Man - Circa 1820

$149.00Price

This is an early 19th century silhouette of a young man in a simple frame. It is a good example of a silhouette, or picture, of a most people from the early 1800's. Silhouettes were very popular from about 1790 to 1840 when they fell out of favor with the invention of photography. This is a wonderful entry level silhouette to start your collection or to add to your primitive home. Primitive and simple, this is one of my favorite simple pieces. He is 4.75" x 5.5" and is also from my personal collection.

Hollow-cut silhouettes are made by cutting the silhouette from a piece of tan or light colored paper and then laid on a black (or other dark colored) backing.
