An original late 19th century Colburn's Mustard advertising thermometer with its wonderful color and graphics intact. The cover over the alcohol reservoir is missing but it is otherwise in excellent shape and even has its original hanger on the back. I can see this early piece of advertising hanging on the front side of an open cupboard bringing your eye to that bright yellow painted surface. The graphics are also wonderful with 'fever heat', 'blood heat', and 'summer heat' written next to the corresponding areas on the thermometer.
I have it hanging on an old red barn door that I have positioned on a wall in my great room with an early 18th century tavern table in front of it. As you can see, that yellow paint just pops out of the red background. A great early piece of advertising from Colburn's Mustard Company of Philadelphia.
It is 23" long and 4.5" wide.
