Late Civil War Era Glass Fly Trap

Late Civil War Era Glass Fly Trap

A very nice mid 19th century glass fly trap that has that wonderful wavy glass and a few bubbles that was mouth blown into a 2 piece mold. There are no cracks in this early piece. It would have been hung by a wire hanger near your garden to trap wasps or bees interested in your fruit or veggies, or in your kitchen to trap flies or fruit flies to keep them away from your food. It stands 6" tall and is approximately 4" wide at the bottom.

My Living Room 2018

That grain painted wardrobe that you can see in this picture will soon be replaced by an 18th century highboy that I fell in love with while up in New England a few months ago.
