A wonderfully primitive antique  mortar and pestle in its original dark green paint. Well-used and absolutely gorgeous, it is a piece of our American history. It also has an interesting repair on one side that was done with two tiny early nails. This was to help stop that crack down the side but even more interesting is that the nails do not go all the way through to the inside. This was an important mortar to whoever owned it, so it may have been owned by an apothecary who used it to mix medicines.
It has a 5" top diameter and stands 7" tall.
