Revolutionary War Era Powder Horn with Remnants of its Black and Gold Paint
An 18th century powder horn that has been shaved down to a wonderful design on the pouring end. At one time it was painted black and gold with most of the paint seen on the pouring end. It is an early horn that has been repaired over the years and eventually that cloth cap was added to it. The cap was painted in a thick black paint that hardened and became a waterproof protective surface. The initials "JB" have been carved in the horn and it was a horn for a right handed man. It is 10" long.
This horn is from a 35+ year old collection and as such is 'fresh to the market'.
