Two Birds Sampler - Early 1800's

Two Birds Sampler - Early 1800's

$199.00Price

This is an early 1800's sampler that features two big birds in the center of the design. It was probably made by a very young girl who was new to practicing her stitches. There looks to have been a date on it when it was first sewn because you can see what looks like '18' below the alphabet at the top of the sampler but the majority of the stitches have come loose over time. There are also several initials or letters beside the partial date that may be the initial of the little girl's family or maybe just more practice letters. I love all of her birds and flowers in pots that she used as practice in making figures in her sampler. She has bright thread colors and you just can't stop looking at those two big birds right in the center of her sampler. Primitive and beautiful, it is 8" x 9.5".
