1807 Buffalo Powder Horn with Inscribed Date
This early 19th century powder horn was made from the horn of a buffalo. It was found in New Hampshire and is dated 1805 on the side of the horn. It has a carved 'ratcheted' area at the small end of the horn to keep a leather strap secure and is finished off with those wonderful huge 'button' pins right above its wood stopper. The large end of the horn has a wood top that is secured with small pins and the wood stopper is so well-made that it fits snuggly in place.
It is 11" long at it's longest point.
